Let's not sugarcoat it.
If you park in a disability space and you’re not supposed to be there, you’re not “in a hurry.” You’re not “just running in.” You’re not the exception.
You’re selfish.
Those spaces are clearly marked. Bright paint. Big signs. No confusion.
So don’t act like it’s an accident. You knew exactly what you were doing – you just decided it didn’t apply to you.
That’s not ignorance. That’s entitlement.
“Just Five Minutes” means nothing.
People love this excuse like it makes everything okay.
It doesn’t.
Five minutes for you could mean someone with a disability has to park far away, struggle to walk, or leave entirely. You’re not saving time – you’re dumping the problem on someone who already has it harder.
Your convenience is not more important than someone else’s ability to function.
You Don’t Get to Decide Who “Looks Disabled.“
Another weak excuse: “They didn’t look disabled.“
Good. Because you’re not the authority on anyone else’s condition.
Not all disabilities are visible. But your lack of respect is.
The Real Problem? People Defending This.
What’s worse than the person parking there is everyone backing it up.
Laughing. Minimizing. Acting like calling it out is the real issue.
That’s how this behaviour spreads – because people are too comfortable being inconsiderate and too defensive to admit it.
It’s Simple
If you don’t need that space, don’t use it.
No debate. No justification. No excuses.
Because at the end of the day, this isn’t complicated – it’s basic decency.
And if you still choose to ignore that, then own it:
You’re choosing yourself over someone who actually needs it.
